About 422 million people worldwide have diabetes, India is known as the diabetes capital of the world and more than 90 million people live with diabetes in India unfortunately, 50 percent of the population is undiagnosed they don’t know whether they have it or not. Diabetes is a chronic disease and diabetes complications greatly impact human life so awareness plays a very important role in diabetes prevention and control.
United World Against Diabetes promotes diabetes awareness through conducting diabetes awareness camps, seminars, distributing diabetes health leaflets in local different languages, and Type 1 diabetes awareness in schools and every year we organize “Diabetes Free India Walk” for diabetes awareness.

UWAD provides free medical aid like Insulin, Plant Medicines, Nutritional Supplements, Blood Glucose Test Strips, Syringes, Lancets, and Glucometers. We also take care of Annual Path Lab Tests.

UWAD provides Diabetes Education that plays a very important role for diabetes care. People with diabetes learn how to take the best care of themselves and learn the skills to eat healthy, be active, check their blood sugar (glucose), take their medicines on time, yoga for diabetes and reduce the risk of other health problems.

We conduct free diabetes screening camps on a continuous basis in societies, villages, schools and many places for the public. These camps help in early diagnosis of diabetes and prevent complications.

People with diabetes experience diabetes stigma and high rates of mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. Mainly children with Type 1 Diabetes are at the highest risk for mental health issues they feel ashamed, embarrassed, guilty, and isolated causing negative emotions.

Kabaddi is the oldest game in rural India. This is the best physical activity to promote health among children and youth with diabetes. There are theories suggesting that Kabaddi originated from the Vedic Period of Indian history. UWAD arranged School Kabaddi Games for children with diabetes. Non-diabetic children could also participate, but team captains were only diabetic children. This kabaddi competition is conducted in different schools.
