DIABETES TOURNAMENT

Kabaddi is the oldest game in rural India. This is the best physical activity to promote health among children and youth with diabetes. There are theories suggesting that Kabaddi originated from the Vedic Period of Indian history. UWAD arranged School Kabaddi Games for children with diabetes.

WOMEN & DIABETES CARE

The disease itself may not discriminate on the basis of gender, but when it comes to diabetes, women in rural areas find themselves at a disadvantage compared with men. Women pay more attention to the health of the men and children in the family, leaving them with less time to devote to their own wellbeing.

Charity Fund

We are also committed to providing education, guidance, monitoring, and medical assistance essential for families to gain confidence in managing diabetes in rural areas and schools.

MEDICAL AID

UWAD provides free medical aid like Insulin, Plant Medicines, Nutritional Supplements, Blood Glucose Test Strips, Syringes, Lancets, and Glucometers. We also take care of Annual Path Lab Tests.

EDUCATE

UWAD provides Diabetes Education that plays a very important role for diabetes care. People with diabetes learn how to take the best care of themselves and learn the skills to eat healthy, be active, check their blood sugar (glucose), take their medicines on time, yoga for diabetes and reduce the risk of other health problems.

SCREENING

We conduct free diabetes screening camps on a continuous basis in societies, villages, schools and many places for the public. These camps help in early diagnosis of diabetes and prevent complications.

PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT

People with diabetes experience diabetes stigma and high rates of mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. Mainly children with Type 1 Diabetes are at the highest risk for mental health issues they feel ashamed, embarrassed, guilty, and isolated causing negative emotions. Diabetes stigma impacts their social relationships in the community, may lead to depression and anxiety, and create poor attitudes towards self-care of the condition which may increase the risk of diabetes-related complications so it is very important to give them social and psychological support. Our organization with the help of a psychologist and mental health professional gives counseling and support in schools.
